62nd Annual Fiesta Mexicana Celebration Taking Place in Flint This Weekend

62nd Annual Fiesta Mexicana This Weekend

(Flint, Mich.) – Come enjoy a taste of Hispanic culture from delicious food to exciting entertainment at the Fiesta Mexicana in Flint this weekend. The event is the largest celebration of Latin culture outside of Detroit and Grand Rapids and will take place on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 starting at 10 a.m. Festivities will run until 10 p.m. on Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sunday.

“We invite the community to join us for the 62nd Annual Fiesta Mexicana. Our community is proud of our culture and want our friends in Flint, Genesee County and Mid-Michigan to experience the richness of the Hispanic culture” said Tòmas Tello, member of the Fiesta Mexicana Planning Committee.

The annual event showcases authentic food, musical acts, cultural exhibitions and vendors. Musical acts will be coming from Grand Rapids, Adrian and Chesaning. These include La Furia Del Ritmo from Grand Rapids; Los Hermanos Escamilla from Chesaning; Los Estrellas De Oro from Grand Rapids; and Gabriel Burciaga & The Bad Boyz from Adrian.

Entertainment will also be provided by El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil, a youth-arts program focused on preserving the Mexican culture. The group will perform Mariachi style presentations throughout the weekend.

Admission is free and there will be events for the whole family. Attendees will be able to purchase authentic Mexican and Latin American food including fajitas, tacos, tamales, enchiladas and Pan de Dulce or sweet bread.

Hispanics make up 5.1% of Michigan’s population and their population in the region continues to grow. Nationally, Hispanics make up 17.8% of the U.S. population.

Fiesta Mexicana will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located at 2136 W. Coldwater Road, Flint, 48505.
