Advocacy Update

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you had an excellent weekend. As part of Communities First, Inc.’s ongoing efforts to keep our neighbors informed of key issues in civic affairs, please see the updates below!

  1. Communities First, in partnership with the League of Women Voters and Flint Beat, will be recording a series of candidate forums for the 69thand 70th State House District Primaries and the 27th State Senate District Primary. Please keep an eye out for those to be posted soon!
  2. You can see past recordings of Communities First Civic Engagement topics at our YouTube page. Just click hereto access it. You can view our recent Civics 101 discussion here, and learn more about the process and how you can be involved!
  3. The Michigan Secretary of State’s Office will be holding an Absentee Voting Crash Course tomorrow, July 12th at Noon. Please do attend if you can to learn about Michigan’s absentee voting process! You can also watch the session recordings here. As a reminder, you do not need a reason to request an absentee ballot. Any registered voter can request and vote by absentee for any reason.
  4. Please commit to voting by using the Communities First link at https://linktr.ee/cfvotes. You can also look up information on how to vote, how to register to vote, how to get an absentee ballot, and more!

Thank you for being engaged in our community. As a reminder, the August primary is on August 2nd, with polls open from 7am-8pm. You can see a sample ballot, look up your polling place, and request an absentee ballot by visiting https://michigan.gov/vote.
