For the past 28 years, the Hubble Space Telescope has been a beacon of inspiration to all, a marvelous feat of engineering, and an exquisite tool for astronomers. But why put a telescope in space? What are the advantages? Join University of Michigan-Flint astronomer, Professor Rajib Ganguly, as he recounts his own love affair with Hubble, how it has shaped his own research, his career, and the careers of a whole a generation of astronomers.

Dr. Ganguly got his Ph.D. in Astronomy & Astrophysics from The Pennsylvania State University in 2002. Afterwards, he had the pleasure of serving as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, MD, ground zero for operations of the Hubble Space Telescope. He was hired at the University of Michigan-Flint in 2009, and currently serves as the Associate Chair of the Physics program.
