Genesee County Housing Partners Connects Residents with Housing Resources

FLINT, Michigan (04/17/15) On Monday, April, 20th from 10am-1pm, Genesee County Housing Partners (GCHP) will host a Housing Resource Fair at the MTA Downtown Terminal on Harrison Street.  In an effort to get resources and information in the hands of people who need it, the group will be available to answer any housing related question that people may have.  In recognition of Fair Housing Month (April), the public is invited to this event where the will have access to a diverse array of housing resources. GCHP Partners who will be represented include: Communities First, Inc., Metro Community Development, East Central Association of REALTORS, Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, Asbury Community Development Corporation, U.S. Department of HUD, The Disability Network (and others).

The mission of Genesee County Housing Partners is to provide access to housing resources for the community and serve as a housing support network for agencies in Genesee County.  This collaborative group offers education, resources and works to meet housing needs in the community.  Partner agencies share knowledge regarding housing matters ranging from home ownership, housing discrimination, landlord/tenant issues, and homelessness with one another and the broader community.

“Genesee County Housing Partners exists not just to offer brochures and give speeches.  Our partners have decided that we don’t just open doors for those we serve, we walk through it with them.  This Housing Resource Fair takes the resources to residents and reaches them where they are”, says Glenn Wilson, President of Genesee County Housing Partners.

About Genesee County Housing Partners

In 2013, various housing agencies and community stakeholders began meeting to discuss forming a housing group to address housing related issues in Genesee County. The purpose of this unincorporated association is to be a resource of. The group is committed to transparency, collaboration and improving the housing conditions for residents of Genesee County.

Genesee County Housing Partners meets on the 2nd Friday of every month from 9:30am-11:00am at the Flint Public Library. Meetings are open to agencies and individuals who desire to improve housing conditions in Genesee County.
