Yard Waste Composting Season Begins in the City of Flint!

The 2019 seasonal program for curbside compost collection in the City of Flint began Monday, April 1. Compost material will be picked up every week, on the residents’ regularly scheduled waste collection day.

To prepare items for collection, residents should place grass clippings, leaves, and weeds in either brown paper lawn and leaf bags, or an approved waste container clearly marked as “Yard Waste”. Brush and twigs must not exceed two inches in diameter, and not exceed four feet in length and should be tied with biodegradable rope. Compostable material containers must not weigh more than 50 pounds each.

Curbside compost collection in Flint will end for the season Friday, November 22, 2019.

In the month of May, the City of Flint “Love Your City” 2019 program promotes spring cleaning events in order to clean up excessive yard waste that can build up on properties, along with the streets, clog drains, and cause potentially slippery road conditions. Local participation in this event encourages residents to have pride in their community and become more involved in their neighborhood.

This year the 2019 Tire Buy-back Program is scheduled for May 18, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM! Watch for upcoming fliers for this event.
